Buying a Blade Welder of a Band Saw

The band saw is one of the most used tools in any fabrication workshop. Nearly all projects that are done in a fabrication workshop are started on a band saw. The band saw can rated as one of the most versatile fabrication tools that can be found in any fabrication workshop today. Being that band saws are heavily used in almost all workshops, the blades of band saws can get broken so easily. 

Long as blades of band saw are not kinked and the teeth of the blade are still in good condition a band saw blade can be repaired. Most band saw blades are resistant welders but broken blades can be fixed using welding and silver soldering techniques. Silver soldering or welding requires skills and special jigs that at time are not readily available. Most welding machines that are used to weld broken blades are usually complex, fully automatic and programmed or they can be manually operated.

Most welders of band saw blades who can comfortably say they can weld band saws say band saw welding is an acquired skill. A number of subtleties of the process of welding a band saw have a big impact on the success of the operation of a band saw. Most people heap the blame on their machines when the problem as to why a band saw is not functioning well is the operator. Each band saw is made in specific ways with each band saw requiring a different material for its blades. Even welders that are automatic require setup for blade width and material.  Band saws that are manually operated or semi automatic are very sensitive to errors.

A band saw that is properly welded can operate for longer periods of time until the saws teeth wear out. Band saw blades break down at the weld usually when the blades welds are less then perfect. To have prefect welds demands that a band saw is properly set up in terms of current weld time. Which translates to, good preparation; good annealing; and good grinding (if necessary), If a person is relatively new to the process of welding it will pay dividends for them to spend time with blade pieces that are scrap in order to learn how to correctly weld.

An additional plus for owning a band saw welder is the fact that it saves people money, and the potential of buying blade material in bulk. Purchasing and assembling blades in bulk when necessary provides an investor with a chance of saving immensely. Some band saw blades that are imported have non standard blade lengths requirements and locating fitting blades can be quite a task.  Having a welder at hand, commercial standard blades can be adjusted according to the required specifics to fit oddball machines.

The other specific to keep in mind when purchasing band saw welder blades are welding current, capacities of blade width, and the blades requirements. It is relevant to know the type of material which will be welded on the blade. Other welders do not support blades that are bi-metal. Incase a fabrication shop uses bi-metal blades, extra research is required in order to locate suitable blades.
